Reasonably Available Control Measure
Updated: September 3, 2024RACM are readily available control measures designed to bring an area back into attainment. According to the Clean Air Act, one of the processes in implementing emission controls to attain the 8-hour ozone standards is to complete a RACM analysis that typically focuses on area, mobile and non-major point sources. States must then apply all economically and technologically feasible RACM that will help the state reach attainment promptly and practically. RACM requires an area-specific analysis, in which the State considers the application of RACM for any source of VOCs or NOX within the state borders.
