Air Quality Programs Fellow

The Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) is seeking a motivated and passionate Air Quality Programs Fellow to support efforts in reducing air pollution and protecting public health in the Denver Metro and Northern Front Range region. This role is ideal for individuals interested in public policy, environmental advocacy, public health, or communications who want hands-on experience in the field.

About RAQC:

The RAQC is the lead agency for air quality planning in the region, working with local governments, businesses, and community groups to develop and implement solutions that improve air quality. Our initiatives focus on reducing emissions, public education, and policy development. More information can be found at www.raqc.org.

Responsibilities:

• Attend events, table at public gatherings, and engage with community members about air quality programs.

• Assist with school-based anti-idling programs, monitor program success, and communicate with faculty and staff.

• Help distribute ozone air quality alerts through email and text platforms.

• Attend and summarize government meetings and public hearings related to air quality.

• Support program logistics, data entry, and reporting to ensure effective implementation of air quality initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Academic or professional experience in air quality, environmental studies, public policy, communications, or a related field.

• Strong communication and outreach skills; comfortable engaging with the public and attending community meetings.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (experience with Constant Contact or similar platforms is a plus).

• Spanish language skills preferred but not required.

Structure and Benefits:

• Hybrid work schedule, with in-office work at least one day per week (Tuesdays) and remote flexibility.

• Paid position at $25/hour.

• Duration of 10 to 12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates between Mid-May/Early June and August/September 2025.

• Expected hours of 30 to 40 per week, with weekend work required but compensated with flex time.

• While temporary employees are not eligible for full benefits, mileage for offsite work will be reimbursed with approval.
