Hiring: Clean Air Program Coordinator

The Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) is looking for a passionate and motivated Clean Air Program Coordinator to join our team and help improve air quality in the Denver Metro/North Front Range region. This role is ideal for applicants interested in gaining experience in managing community programs, environmental advocacy, public health, and/or communications.
About RAQC:
The RAQC is the lead agency for air quality planning in the region, working with local governments, businesses, and community groups to develop and implement solutions that improve air quality. Our initiatives focus on reducing emissions, public education, and policy development. More information can be found at www.raqc.org.
In this role, you will:
• Work alongside experienced program managers to support air quality initiatives
• Engage in community outreach, public education, and program coordination
• Assist with tracking budgets, managing air quality alerts, and facilitating public events
Key Responsibilities
• Support public outreach programs like air quality alerts, anti-idling campaigns, and emissions reduction initiatives
• Attend community events, school programs, and meetings to promote awareness and encourage participation in RAQC programs
• Assist in RAQC’s Simple Steps. Better Air. education efforts, including digital and in-person engagement
• Conduct outreach to small businesses, including food trucks, landscaping companies, and vehicle owners, to encourage participation in RAQC incentive programs
• Represent RAQC at public events, trade-in programs, and industry discussions
• Monitor program expenses and assist with reporting
Qualifications
• Some academic or professional experience in air quality, public policy, environmental studies, public health, or communications (internship experience counts)
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage time and multiple projects
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and standard office software
• Eager to learn about air quality policies and environmental sustainability
• Confident engaging with the public at events and meetings (Conversational Spanish is a plus but not required)
Position Logistics
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Communications, Programs, and Government Affairs Director. The salary range is $58,000 – $62,000 per year. Employees are eligible for medical, dental, flexible spending accounts (FSA), vacation, and sick time benefits.
The position is based in Denver, CO, with a hybrid work structure. Employees are expected to be in the office at least one day per week (currently Tuesdays) and attend monthly board meetings, with flexibility for remote work on other days. The role includes both office-based work and community outreach, which may involve local travel. Mileage reimbursement is provided for offsite work with prior approval. Standard work hours are 9 AM – 5 PM, though some evening and weekend events may be required with advanced notice.
