Attainment Area

An area with air quality that meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) health standards periodically reviewed, and revisions promulgated by EPA as required in the Clean Air Act. Nonattainment areas are those that have not met the standards for designated pollutants. An area may be in attainment for one pollutant and nonattainment are for others.
