Model Performance Evaluation

« Back to Glossary Index

Model Performance Evaluation is a process through which the validity and accuracy of the results produced by a model are evaluated. MPE is a required part of the Attainment Plan development process for a Nonattainment area and can involve analyzing how well the model is able to replicate observed pollutant concentrations and how accurate the model is in characterizing the sensitivity of pollutant concentrations to changes in emissions. See Section 3 of: Modeling Guidance for Demonstrating Attainment of Air Quality Goals for Ozone, PM2.5, and Regional Haze.
