Colorado AQCC Adopts Zero-Emission Vehicle Standards
Following three days of testimony, on Aug. 16th the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission approved a new Colorado zero-emissions vehicle (ZEV) program. The new rules were brought to the Commission by a coalition of State agencies and the auto manufacturing industry. This action makes Colorado the 10th state to adopt California’s Zero-Emission Vehicle program, which further advances the rapid electrification of the vehicle fleet. The RAQC’s support for the program was appreciated as we stressed the emissions reductions and increased consumer choice that are anticipated. Regulation 21 Approved by AQCC
The Regional Air Quality is pleased to announce that Regulation 21, the Low VOC Architectural and Industrial Maintenance (AIM) coatings and consumer products rule, was approved by the Air Quality Control Commission in a unanimous vote this past Thursday (July 18th). This was the culmination of a multiyear, collaborative effort between the RAQC and the Air Pollution Control Division. The rule will go into effect May 1st, 2020.
The rule will provide an estimated emissions credit of 10 – 16 tons/day of VOCs in the nonattainment area.
